All In The Broad Way

How narrow is the gate and difficult the road that leads to life, and few find it. - Matthew 7:14

The way of mankind is the way of destruction. It has been so since Adam willfully chose his own desires over his Creator's. These self-destructive tendencies can often be brutal and even barbaric. At other times, they may be more subtle and civilized, but no less devastating.

This is the "broad" way.

Because it is narrow, if mankind does not seek the way of life, he will miss it entirely. It is evidence of God's grace that the way of life even exists. Would I, could I have found it on my own? Absolutely not. For some, like me, a heritage of faith (a work of God's grace) was passed on that presented the path to eternal life with Christ, but what about the majority who lack such a heritage?

We must go and tell them, or they will never hear and never see.

The best men know that they are very far from what they ought to be; and the very worst think that, if they were a very little better, they should be as good as they need to be. - James Froude
