Let's Do Something

The Lord said: Because these people approach me with their mouths to honor me with lip-service -- yet their hearts are far from Me, and their worship [consists of] man-made rules learned [by rote] .... - Isaiah 29:13

Speaking prophetically, Isaiah recorded God's words to God's people. The accusation and charge against them was hypocrisy. They were honoring God with their mouths, their words gave the impression that they were living in obedience, but their hearts were nowhere near God's throne room.

Honesty should be a characteristic of every Christian, but too often we say one thing and do another. We're all guilty of such hypocrisy from time to time and God demands our repentance. What will that repentance resemble? We will know we have turned from this sin when we stop talking and begin doing, when our actions begin to speak louder than our words.

Enough with the rhetoric. Let's do something.

Necessity of action takes away the fear of the act and makes bold resolution the favorite of fortune. - Francis Quarles
