As and Where He Wills

Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, [it is clear] what sort of people you should be in holy conduct and godliness.... - 2 Peter 3:11

I can remember that at one point during my primary school years my desire was to be an archaeologist. I also, at one point or another in my life, wanted to be a Green Beret, fighter pilot, professional golfer, or run my own accounting practice. This morning, as I sit in my Pennsylvania apartment firmly in the "last quarter," I can honestly say that when my wife and I married in 1978, I would never have guessed at the life God has blessed us to lead.

As I consider where I have been and where I am going, I understand that it is more important to God how I conduct my life than where I conduct it or in what enterprise. In character, conduct, and obedience I must determine to live as He wills, then He can always lead me where He wills.

Every man's work, whether it be literature or music or pictures or anything else, is always a portrait of himself, and the more he tries to conceal himself the more clearly will his character appear in spite of him. - Samuel Butler
