Instead, his delight is in Yahweh's instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. - Psalm 1:2

Psalm 1 begins with these words, "Blessed is the man...," which raises the question, "Are you that man?" Blessed? How can you know if you are?
Usually, when we say someone is "blessed," we're talking about their good family, good health, good job, or general lack of misfortune. Yet, according to Psalm 1, the blessed man:
- does not follow the advice of the wicked,
- does not take the path of sinners, and
- does not join a group of mockers.
It would be like saying, "That dude is blessed! Just look at the company He keeps!" But, then the psalmist goes on to say that the blessed man also delights in God's instruction and meditates on it day and night. This is the equivalent of saying, "He must be blessed, just look at how much He loves God."
It seems that the greatest blessing should not measured in earthly terms. God's true blessing is seen in the heart of the person who is completely devoted to Him. Those truly blessed by God, seek God.
Blessed be God that Thou hast filled the soul of Thy servant with joy and peace in believing. - Christopher Love
