I was very glad to find some of your children walking in truth, in keeping with a command we have received from the Father. - 2 John 4

The nature of the missionary work that my wife and I conducted when in Africa often meant that we were not able to return to a village for some time after an initial visit. When we were able to share the Good News and some responded, it was difficult to leave them. We prayed and hoped that some fruit would remain, but we could never be sure. Imagine what we felt when we would return weeks later and learn that these new believers were "walking in the truth!" Of course, we were overjoyed.
There are many things that happen to bring discouragement to those who serve the Lord vocationally or bi-vocationally, but they often find encouragement to continue with their work in the knowledge that their children (by faith) are walking in the truth.
Everyone needs encouragement. Perhaps you might encourage someone today by continuing to walk in God's truth, truth that they first delivered to you!
Note how good you feel after you have encouraged someone else. No other argument is necessary to suggest that you should never miss the opportunity to give encouragement. - George M. Adams
