God's WMD

The one who commits sin is of the Devil, for the Devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God was revealed for this purpose: to destroy the Devil's works. - 1 John 3:8

One of the reasons given by our government for the invasion of Iraq under the Bush presidency was the possibility that Saddam Hussein had WMD's (Weapons of Mass Destruction) at his disposal. Further investigation revealed that he did not possess any of consequence, but in fact he was a master at making everyone think that he did.

No matter your personal politics, it is generally agreed that WMD's in the hands of a lunatic are a bad thing, and our country will continue to be required to take any steps necessary to ensure that does not happen. On the other hand, the right WMD in the hands of someone with perfect wisdom and understanding would be a good thing.

Such was the Cross of Christ in the hands of an Almighty God, for with it He utterly destroyed all the works of mankind's greatest enemy, the Devil. Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross was God's ultimate WMD and had He withheld it, an eternity in heaven would not have been possible.

The atonement in Jesus Christ's blood is perfect; there isn't anything that can be added to it. It is spotless, impeccable, flawless. It is perfect as God is perfect. - A.W. Tozer
