He Knows How Much

And if we know He hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked Him for. - 1 John 5:15

When in the midst of third-world cultures, a person is constantly confronted by the surrounding, enveloping needs of humanity. From the beggar in front of the Post Office, to the tap on the window by a starving young girl, the needs are everywhere and, at times, overwhelming. It is difficult to know what or how much to do. You want to help, but how much is enough? How much is proper? How much will make a difference? With limited resources (all are limited in some way) who is more deserving?

As difficult as the above scenario may seem, imagine being confronted, all at once, by the needs of the entire human race. Only an omniscient God can sovereignly handle all these requests. Only He knows the beginning from the end and whether or not a request (once granted) will result in good or evil. God already knows when we ask for something (even before we ask) what this "thing" will produce in our life. So, what additional knowledge does God possess that we might not?

He knows our intent. If the "thing" we desire will contribute to His glory, then we will receive it. If not, then we will not for God truly always knows how much is enough.

God has supplied all my needs and has not failed me once. - Watchman Nee
