Make Your ways known to me, Yahweh; teach me Your paths. Guide me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; I wait for You all day long. - Psalm 25:4-5

If you have ever flown anywhere in an airplane then without a doubt you have been stuck in a holding pattern. You know, when your plane seemingly flies around in circles and doesn't go anywhere?
Well, have you ever found yourself in a "holding pattern" with your feet on the ground? Maybe it's your career or your marriage that seems "stuck." It might even be your walk with God. Like me, 14 years ago when I returned from overseas, you may be waiting for your next ministry opportunity. Don't despair, there is hope.
Psalm 24:4-5 is just the right prayer for a person who feels aimless and purposeless. God is certainly in our activity, but He is also in our inertia. Sometimes we need to be still, right? God's ways and purposes don't always demand movement. They can also require inaction, rest, and meditation.
If you ever find yourself in a "holding pattern," then it is a good idea to listen. God is causing you to know His ways, to teach you His paths, and to guide you in His truth. After all, He is Your Lord and Savior.
All men commend patience, although few are willing to practice it. - Thomas à Kempis
