It Isn't A Game

I have written these things to you about those who are trying to deceive you. - 1 John 2:26

It was not unusual for an "expat" worker in the part of Africa where we served, to see children laughing, pointing, and shouting, "Nasara," "Le Blanc," or "Toubab!" They all meant basically the same thing, "White person" or "Westerner" and because we were "toubab," we also had to be very wary everywhere we went. We made easy targets, not necessarily for violence, but for jacked-up prices!

Often when bartering for an item we would say that we wanted a "good price, not the toubab price." This usually led to some laughter and protestations, but it also let the shopkeeper know that we were on to their game. We never faulted the seller for trying to get us to pay more. Deception on his part was just good business in an African market. Often, we even paid a little more simply because we could. It was all just a part of the "game."

Satan's business is also deception and his business is "good" in Africa, in Asia, and yes, even here in America. Pray for all those "here and there" trying to expose the lies by sharing the truth. We will ultimately win, but it isn't a game.

The perception of an illusion is deception, even when you believed it was real! Perception of deception is not an illusion at all! - Carl Stoynoff
