Sin Less

We know that everyone who has been born of God does not sin, but the One who is born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him. - 1 John 5:18

Do you like to sin?

If you are thinking, "Not me," then you are lying to yourself. If we didn't enjoy sinning, then why would we keep on doing it? Let's be honest. We sin because we like it.

What we don't like are the consequences that accompany our sinful actions (guilt, shame, separation, etc.)! In fact, most of us would sin less if we could just remember the consequences before we the act. The unfortunate truth is that even when the Holy Spirit does remind us of sin's harmful consequences, we still choose to ignore His warnings. The Apostle Paul aptly expresses our frustration in Romans 7:24, where he cried "Wretched man that I am!"

Ultimately, the shameful truth is that when we (who belong to God in Christ Jesus) sin (and suffer the consequences) we have no one to blame, but ourselves. On the other hand, there is also the wonderful truth that though the consequences remain the stain is removed by He who died in our place.

Most things in life are moments of pleasure and a lifetime of embarrassment. - Tony Benn (English Politician)
