And this is the promise that He Himself made to us: eternal life. - 1 John 2:25

Promises made. Promises kept. Promises broken. We have all been on the receiving and distributing ends of the "promise factory." I think that most people intend to keep the promises they make, but once someone begins to compromise in this area then they rarely reverse the trend (apart from a wonderful work of God's grace in their life).
Behind every promise made, there is a promise-maker and the strength of a promise is rooted in the character and power of the one who made it. Politicians often make promises they cannot keep because the outcome is truly beyond their control. To be a perfect promise-keeper, a person would also have to be perfect and all-powerful, knowing all possible outcomes and able to overcome any eventuality.
Do you know anyone who fits that description? I do and He should be trusted.
As I look back over fifty years of ministry, I recall innumerable tests, trials and times of crushing pain. But through it all, the Lord has proven faithful, loving, and totally true to all His promises. - David Wilkerson
