Through these the world of that time perished when it was flooded by water. - 2 Peter 3:6

In the "creation" portion of the "Creation to Return" story that many use to share Christ among oral cultures, God having created the materials world by His word" is strongly emphasized. There are at least two reasons for this emphasis: 1) Listeners need to see the power of God's spoken Word, and 2) They need to understand the difference between the creation of "things" and God's creation of man, which was from the dust of the earth as God breathed life into him.
Peter, in the context of judgment, emphasized another truth about God's Word. If God was capable of speaking everything "into" existence, He certainly also has the power to speak it "out of" existence. To put it plainly, God's Word is living, true, powerful, and not to be ignored. By it you were created, and by it you may be re-created as well.
Hear, heed, and be transformed!
My hope and prayer is that the body of Christ in America will awake with holy boldness, a boldness content neither with silence nor mere words but that backs up those words with action and results. - Frank R. Wolf
