Lead me in the right path, O Lord, or my enemies will conquer me. Make Your way plain for me to follow. - Psalm 5:8

When Moses led the nation of Israel out of Egypt, they did not take the shortest route. The biblical record explains the reason why. God knew that the Philistines would be an obstacle and that the Israelites would be discouraged by any immediate confrontation. Apparently, He wanted to first reveal His majestic power and provision by removing the Red Sea "barrier" and second, to prove His ability to protect them by removing the Egyptian threat.
All Israel had to do was follow.
Sometimes God will lead us away from the enemy. We should heed His instruction and follow. At other times, the enemy is much closer, even within, and the way forward requires that we make good decisions within God's moral parameters for our lives. In either case, one thing is clear for the person who has chosen to follow Christ.
The way is plain.
If you find a path with no obstacles, it probably doesn't lead anywhere. - Frank A. Clark
