Wear It or Bear It?

Little children, let no one deceive you! The one who does what is right is righteous, just as He is righteous. - 1 John 3:7

I confess, freely, that I am a fan of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. For this reason, I am also happy to see them defeat the Georgia Bulldogs, though, I admit, it is a rare occasion. I "identify" with the Jackets, when I can, by wearing the GT and Tech colors (though in my present locale no one really cares). Come football season in the US, you usually know where a person stands by what they wear.
I see a lot of people wearing crosses today and it often makes me wonder who they represent. John said that we identify with Christ through "righteous" actions, not t-shirts or crosses. This goes beyond doing good "things" to doing good for the sake and glory of Christ. I just don't think God is impressed with what we wear, only by whose image we bear. He simply wants us to look more and more like His Son.
In the end, it is a lot easier to wear a cross than to take ours up and follow Him.
Love always involves responsibility, and love always involves sacrifice, and we do not really love Christ unless we are prepared to face His task and to take up His Cross. - William Barclay
