What you have heard from the beginning must remain in you. If what you have heard from the beginning remains in you, then you will remain in the Son and in the Father. - 1 John 2:24

Once upon a time back in Africa, Cindy and I bought some patio furniture from a guy whose "store" was a 30-yard patch of dirt next to a major highway. The man spoke a little English, but primarily French and the local trade language. He was very intelligent, but also illiterate and I had to ask my colleague to write out the receipt for him.
Many people around the world cannot read or write. Many others come from a culture that prefers to "hear or see" the news rather than "read" it. For this reason, one of the best ways to communicate the message of Christ is to use oral bible stories. Leaflets, or any other written material (at least in the beginning) are not very useful, though often appreciated.
Having said that, I am still convinced that sustainable biblical orthodoxy and orthopraxy rests in God's Word (written or signed) and that eventually every culture needs the Scriptures in their heart language for local churches to multiply, survive, and thrive.
Support and resource Bible translation so that one day everyone can have one.
The Bible is the fountain of truth. - Joseph Franklin Rutherford
