A Greater Love

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the One who gives new birth loves also the one who has been born of Him. - 1 John 5:1

Before we moved to Africa back in '09, we purchased a small plaque and hung it in our house that read, "Grandchildren are the reward for not killing your teenagers." Don't get me wrong, we love our kids. In fact, we are very proud of them. They are both responsible adults and great parents. Besides all that, they continue to give clear testimony to the flawless parenting they received throughout their young lives! Please, hold your applause.

Yet, as wonderful as they are, our children have almost been replaced in the hearts of their parents. As you may (or may not yet) know, there is a reason they call them grandkids, and we surely love ours! Of course, in reality, the separation we often felt living far away due to ministry was sometimes overwhelming. We just love them all (spouses included) so much.

How did we do it? How did we manage to go where God always sent, no matter the separation that it would bring? We only did it by His grace that empowers our love for the Father, His Son, and all those who have believed (and we desired to see believe) in Jesus.
