If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. - 1 John 1:9

When we lived in Africa, Cindy and I would go for a walk almost every morning and our route covered most of the neighborhood. While most of our district was charming, some parts were not. Just outside a nice lane, there was raw sewage overflowing onto the street and then down into a shallow ditch. Let's just say that the grass was always green in that place! It was nasty, repulsive, and offensive, like man's sin in the face of a Holy God.
The apostles teach us that by the shed blood of Jesus Christ, God forgives if we confess. Unfortunately, sometimes there is a problem with our "confession." To truly "confess" is to see one's sin as God sees it (nasty, repulsive, and offensive like raw sewage), which should lead to repentance and avoidance. It should also produce a "new" path. Feeling sorry for sin is not confession. True confession brings change.
Cindy and I found a new route. Should you?
People do not mind their faults being spread out before them, but they become impatient if called on to give them up. - Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
