"You speak as a foolish woman speaks," he told her. "Should we accept only good from God and not adversity?" Throughout all this Job did not sin in what he said. - Job 2:10

In the aftermath of tragedies and mass shooting events such as those we have seen over the years, many ask, "Why would God allow such a thing to happen?" Some have attempted to give an answer and sadly, as evil pervades and godlessness increases, we will all probably be afforded new opportunities in the future. For my part, I shall not attempt to answer for God. Why? He is more than capable of defending Himself. On the other hand, another question might need to be considered.
Why would "I" allow such a thing to happen?
Please understand that the question suggests placement of guilt at no other place than the feet of the perpetrators. At the same time, we all live in communities similar to those that appear in the news. We all come in contact with our neighbors and coworkers, and none of us wants to weep in the wake of such a catastrophe wondering, much less knowing we could have done more.
There is a reason God has placed you and kept you for this day. Be brave. Be available. Be light. This world, your world can, in the blink of an eye, much too often become a very dark place.
Adversity is the diamond dust Heaven polishes its jewels with. - Thomas Carlyle
