Good news from a distant land is like cold water to a parched throat. - Proverbs 25:25

Social media is no longer an "idea." It is now woven into the very fabric of our culture.
Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc., are no longer just a small part of our communication matrix, they have become the primary means by which many prefer to stay in touch. Did you ever imagine that there might be a day when calling someone, on a cell phone, no less, just seemed to be too much trouble? It is just so much easier and less intrusive (it sometimes seems) to reach out another way!
One of the benefits (for me) of all this rise in social media (and my ability to grasp it, at least, a little) has been the way it has facilitated contact with those who are "far away," either living in a distant land or from a distant time (my past). As one who has always valued connections, social media has helped me stay in touch and I am so thankful for it. Of course, such access to one another's lives requires me to exercise some responsibility and courtesy. I should use these platforms to encourage and lift, not discourage, attack, tear down, or offend. As in any conversation, all thoughts do not deserve to be voiced, nor should be.
With that in mind, let us all determine to post responsibly and courteously, utilizing all the grace and discernment that God provides. Let us put a bridle not only on our tongues, but also our thumbs. Not all thoughts are worthy of mention.
We are masters of the unsaid words, but slaves of those we let slip out. - Winston Churchill
