Clearly In You

No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God remains in us and His love is perfected in us. - 1 John 4:12

OK, I was never very good at geography, but anyone with a map can see that Africa is huge! In fact, the entire United States would fit in the portion that is considered West Africa. In this same region, there are also over 1,600 separate distinct people groups with their own language and culture. Wow!

Yet, as immense (and in some ways incomprehensible) as Africa is, it does not compare to the transcendent infinite nature of Almighty God. The question any missionary to that continent faces, in fact the greatest question any of us faces as we try to reach a world without Christ, is this, "How do we communicate or present the Infinite to the immense?" Thankfully, John seems to present one of the vital keys.

If we love one another as Christ loved us, then two things will happen. One, God will remain among us and two, His love will be perfected (completed, accomplished) in us. If God is in us (individually) and among us (corporately), then we can give those who do not know Him, those who have never seen Him, the best possible picture of who He truly is.

This world will see Jesus, but only when it can see Him clearly in you.

However many blessings we expect from God, His infinite liberality will always exceed all our wishes and our thoughts. - John Calvin
