Anyone who does not remain in the teaching about Christ, but goes beyond it, does not have God. The one who remains in that teaching, this one has both the Father and the Son. - 2 John 9

I once spoke to an Islamic friend on the subject of Jesus Christ, and he said that he thought Jesus had remained buried for 80 years after His death. Of course, this man had not received this information from the Bible, but from a teacher of his religion.
As sad as this was to hear, it is just as sad to discover a "Christian" who harbors unbiblical views. While we would certainly expect a Muslim to lack such understanding, it has frequently disturbed me to find such surprising theories espoused by those within the church. In fact, in my over 20 years in pastoral service, I observed that the greatest danger to the local church was not the "pagans" on the outside, but the ignorance of the Bible on the inside!
We must never allow our thoughts, or our experiences to overrule the teachings of Scripture.
Ah! Destructive ignorance, what shall be done to chase thee out of the world! - Cotton Mather
