He Has No Equal

Yahweh, if You considered sins, Lord, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness, so that You may be revered. - Psalm 130:3-4

Webster's dictionary defines the act of reverence as "showing devoted, deferential honor to something or someone; regarding something or someone as worthy of great honor." In the verses above, David revealed great truth and evidence of God's unparalleled wisdom; truth and wisdom that proves God's absolute superiority over all other objects of worship.

If our God considered (took a strict account of) sins, which He (being holy) has every right to do, then the only proper response would be for humanity to crumble in the dust before Him in abject fear. Yet, desiring something greater than cowering obedience (in other words, reverence), God offers forgiveness, a forgiveness that was purchased at a terrible cost (to satisfy His righteous justice).

Utterly incredulous pardon offered that we might truly worship (revere) an otherwise unfathomable Being. There really is no equal. Worship Him and Him alone.
