He is the Antichrist

Who is the liar, if not the one who denies that Jesus is the Messiah? He is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. - 1 John 2:22

John identified the spirit of the antichrist as that which states, "Jesus is not the Messiah" and this spirit is in great evidence in much of the world today. For though Jesus may be revered by many, He is not seen as the Messiah (God's anointed Son and Savior of lost mankind) by most. Among a predominant number of religious cultures, that honor is seemingly held by another.

Does the spirit of antichrist pervade the culture where you live? Many philosophies, beliefs, and lifestyles deny that Jesus is the Messiah, and they are not all exotic. God forbid, but it may even be found in some local churches like the one to which John initially wrote.

Let us be alert to this spirit wherever it may be found. Though not always spoken, it can easily be observed.

No man ever did, nor ever shall, truly go forth to convert the nations, nor to prophesy in the present state of witnesses against Antichrist, but by the gracious inspiration and instigation of the Holy Spirit of God. - Roger Williams
