His Glory Is Our Good

Yahweh gives, and Yahweh takes away. Praise the name of Yahweh. Throughout all this Job did not sin or blame God for anything. - Job 1:21-22

After Job had encountered all of his "first round" of trials from Satan, he steadfastly continued to praise God. The Bible simply states that in spite of all his difficulties Job "did not sin or blame God for anything."

How about you? When misfortune strikes, what do you do? Could it be said that you, like Job, have not sinned or blamed God? Yeah, I don't like that question either! Two things are important to remember when trials inevitably hit home:

  1. God is sovereign. Nothing happens unless God has allowed it. Satan, himself, cannot act without God's permission.

  2. Everything that God does, He does for His glory and your ultimate good.

Yes, I know, that there will be times when this is difficult to accept, but as Job so eloquently put it, though God may slay us, we must still trust Him.

God gave burdens, also shoulders. - Yiddish Proverb
