It is the Last Hour

Children, it is the last hour. And as you have heard, "Antichrist is coming," even now many antichrists have come. We know from this that it is the last hour. - 1 John 2:18

Are we living in the "last hour?"

John, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, certainly thought so. One "sign of the times" for John that led him to this conclusion was the proliferation of "antichrists." What was (and is) an "antichrist?" Antichrists are those who are living antitheses of all that Christ is in Person and divine nature, yet claim possession of both. In a word, they are counterfeits.

It stands to reason that if John lived in the last days, then we certainly do and if we do, then how should we be living? In these days, in these "hours," we need to be ready, alert, and aware that not all who claim Christ (or to be a Christian) truly are. We also need to be unselfishly, unwaveringly, unashamedly, and boldly Pro-Christ in word and deed for His name and His glory. Finally, we need to persist in such authenticity and align ourselves with the Christ we know from Scripture, not the one we might fashion to suit our earthly desires.

We may not be able to stop a proliferation of "antichrists," but we can certainly be authentic and true in our own walk with the Savior until He comes.
