Now I want to remind you, though you know all these things: the Lord, having first of all saved a people out of Egypt, later destroyed those who did not believe.... - Jude 5

In the early church, there were those who believed that God's grace was a license to sin. They wrongly believed that the blood of Christ protected them from righteous judgment on wilful sin. Many Israelites falsely believed that since God had released them from Egyptian bondage, their idolatrous actions would somehow be overlooked.
While it is true that we who have trusted in Christ have freedom in Him, that freedom is limited by God's commandments. The Apostle Paul asked, "What then? Should we sin because we are not under law, but under grace?" Then he responded to his own question, saying, "Absolutely not!"
Let us live free but also let us do our best to live according to the principles of God's Word or be rightly chastened for our disobedience.
Freedom prospers when religion is vibrant and the rule of law under God is acknowledged. - Ronald Reagan
