Never Hidden To Him

Why is life given to a man whose path is hidden, whom God has hedged in? - Job 3:23

ree

As the weight of his misfortune bore down upon his body, mind, and emotions, Job even dared to question his own existence. Amazingly, he never questioned God's sovereignty or considered taking his own life (though it seems his wife encouraged him to do both). Job's question (above) was born out of raw, human suffering and perhaps we even understand the desperation that would bring a person to ask it, but is there an answer? Why would God give life to such a man?

Our path as human beings, oft-difficult, but also oft-blessed (which is difficult to remember in the midst of tribulation) is usually hidden. It is hidden to each of us, whether we feel "hedged in" or not. God gives life. He also takes it away. As sovereign Creator, it is His prerogative. While Job's experience reminds us that it is very "human" to question, he also reveals to us that it is very God to teach us through His silence.

I pray that if you find your path hidden today, if you feel like there is no way out, you will know that your Creator is still there. The way, your way is never hidden to Him.

No pain, no palm; no thorns, no throne; no gall, no glory; no cross, no crown. - William Penn
