Peace Be With You

I hope to see you soon, and we will talk face to face. Peace be with you. The friends send you greetings. Greet the friends by name. - 3 John 14

John, in the closing words of his final letter, wished that "peace" would be with his friend.

Don't we all wish the same? I wish that there would be peace, but this world is a place where peace is not so easily found. A long time ago, about 2,000 years, a bunch of angels announced to some shepherds on a Judean hillside that true peace had come on earth. This peace came in the form of a child.

Jesus who was and is the Son of God.

My hope and desire for all is that they would know the peace that is found in Christ Jesus, even if they live in the midst of war, conflict, and strife. Peace and hope are strongly linked in that we too often hope in that which is destructible (vain philosophies, temporal futures, human frailty) and find our own personal peace elusive.

To know the peace of Christ Jesus, you must come to the place where you find your only hope in Him.

Peace is not made at the council table or by treaties, but in the hearts of men. - Herbert Hoover
