He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not only for ours, but also for those of the whole world. - 1 John 2:2

ree

The Good News (the gospel) is that Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, was buried, and rose again the third day, according to the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 15:3-5). In this letter from John, he states that Christ's death, the offering made by Christ, was not only for the Jews, but for the sins of the entire world. From just these two selections (within context) found in the combined text that we call "Scripture," any person is able to understand that Jesus came to save mankind from their sins and that He did it for the glory of His Father. This is good news found in the Bible.

Understanding then that the very source of our eternal hope (the truth concerning the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus) is known and understood from God's Word, why would anyone ever try to live in that same hope apart from a thorough understanding of that same Word?

Whether you are a teacher or a follower (or certainly both), you must know the Word of God! Read it.
