The Impossible Third

A man takes joy in giving an answer; and a timely word — how good that is! - Proverbs 15:23

So, you're having coffee or whatever (coffee is more spiritual) with a friend, when he or she asks, "Could I get your advice on something?" At first, you are intimidated (possibly) because you don't want to answer wrongly. Perhaps you're even honored that your friend considers your counsel to possess some value. Then there is even, I might call it, "the impossible, third possibility," you're blessed.

You're blessed because in that moment something supernatural occurs. Good old "broken and flawed" you is reminded of God's wisdom for the situation (obviously gained from time in God's Word) and His truth (brought to your mind by the Holy Spirit) is shared with your friend in their time of need!

As Solomon would say, "How good that is!"

Just remember that two things are absolutely necessary for these "impossible thirds" to multiply in your life: 1) You must spend time with Him, and 2) You must spend time with "them" (brothers and sisters in need). The "impossible third," the blessing, can only come through abundant time with both.

Don't give your advice before you are called upon. - Desiderius Erasmus
