The Victory: Our Faith

... because whatever has been born of God conquers the world. This is the victory that has conquered the world: our faith. - 1 John 5:4

According to God's Word, we are victorious (as believers), because of our faith. But have you ever wondered why such faith makes us victorious?

Perhaps, we can begin to understand the answer by solving another question, "How exactly does this world defeat us?" It seems that this world often defeats us through despair, discouragement, and loss of hope. As Christians, we will live forever, but how often do these thoughts cause us to forget the eternal life that we currently possess. Isn't this the reason that we often live defeated lives?

We should not be losing this spiritual battle. We can easily live the victory that we already have, if we remember that we are not citizens of this world, but rather citizens of heaven. If our hope is in this world, then we have already been defeated; however, if our hope is in the Lord (who made heaven and earth), then it is impossible for us to be defeated. We are victorious because of our faith, our faith in an eternal, victorious Savior.
