This is the Antichrist

Many deceivers have gone out into the world; they do not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist. - 2 John 7

What is the "spirit of the antichrist?" Is it a person or a system of belief?

Maybe it is both. According to John, the spirit of the antichrist does not confess the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh. There are many religions and cults in the world that affirm this belief. Some are popular and some are not. Some are rather obscure, but one thing is true of them all.

There is nothing noble or good about these systems (or the people that lead them). At their foundations they are corrupt and humanistic. In the end, they are all under the influence of Satan and will come under the wrath of an Almighty God.

And what of those who live under their influence? More than anything else, they need us to live and speak the truth of the gospel.

No man ever did, nor ever shall, truly go forth to convert the nations, nor to prophesy in the present state of witnesses against Antichrist, but by the gracious inspiration and instigation of the Holy Spirit of God. - Roger Williams
