Truly Secure

When I was secure, I said, "I will never be shaken." Yahweh, when You showed Your favor, You made me stand like a strong mountain; when You hid Your face, I was terrified. - Psalm 30:6-7

Security is a somewhat fleeting concept.
Just think about it. We may think ourselves secure when the reality may be something entirely different. We are "secure" one minute before the doctor delivers the devastating results of our routine blood work. We are "secure" thirty seconds before the tractor-trailer runs the stop sign. We were all a little more "secure" before a plane flew into a New York City skyscraper.
Are we truly "secure?" David wrote, "When I was secure, I said, 'I will never be shaken,'" but then went on to admit that in the absence of God's presence "security" was nowhere to be found.
What will our tomorrow hold? Today? This morning? God alone knows, but we can know Him and in His presence forever, we can be truly secure, no matter where we live or what we do.
Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing. - Helen Keller
