What Is Good?

Listen to me, you wise men. Pay attention, you who have knowledge. Job said, "The ear tests the words it hears just as the mouth distinguishes between foods." So let us discern for ourselves what is right; let us learn together what is good. - Job 34:2-4

Many years ago, a large crowd of people met in the U.S. capitol to call for a return to God and biblical principles of morality. Interestingly, even though I am sure many true followers of Christ were a part of the rally, the meeting was led by a man who did not believe the Bible and followed a false God.


Was this good? Was this right?


While I agree with the need to call the churches of our nation (in particular, the followers of Christ) to become politically active and involved in government, should we not act with some discernment when aligning ourselves with those who do not believe as we do?


We will always need change in our country, but should we abandon God's truth to have it? If we abandon His truth, then what change will we have? Reformation without repentance and spiritual awakening should never be the aim.
