What the Next-Gen Needs

I saw among the inexperienced, I noticed among the youths, a young man lacking sense. - Proverbs 7:7

Isn't this statement sort of like saying, "Hey, I found a needle in a needle-stack"?

Most of us are familiar with the term, "youthful indiscretion" and (if we are honest) most of us have also personally experienced the consequences of being "indiscrete." To be indiscrete is to have displayed a lack of good judgment, and among young people, the malady is more common than not. Therefore, for a man to see, "among the youths, a young man lacking sense" is not an unusual occurrence. The question is, "Can we help such a man?"

First, we must see him. We are surrounded by young people who need guidance. Allow the Lord to raise your awareness of their need. Second, we must draw near. Most young people today are experiencing a personal disconnect due to the prevalence of technology. Give them your personal time. They really do want it. Finally, we must listen, teach, and warn. They may ignore the words that cross our lips, but they cannot ignore our ears. Listening can promote learning for everyone involved and is an unstoppable force.

We cannot, must not, standby as another generation slips away.

Maturity is often more absurd than youth and very frequently is most unjust to youth. - Thomas A. Edison
