Why the Fight Matters

For certain men, who were designated for this judgment long ago, have come in by stealth; they are ungodly, turning the grace of God into promiscuity and denying our only Master and Lord Jesus Christ. - Jude 4

I once wrote about how we should fight for the faith (once delivered to the saints). Now, I would like to give at least one reason why the fight matters.
There have always been and there will always be those who twist the message of Christ to accomplish their own selfish plans and goals. The gospel is a message of hope for multitudes of hopeless souls around the world, and some are willing to rob unsuspecting unbelievers (or gullible believers) of their meager wealth through the deceptive deliverance of a "half-gospel."
The greatest danger to the church is not the pagans outside, but theological error inside. Heretics lead by deceit. This is why it is so important that we know biblical truth, contend for it, and defend it. May we never be guilty of twisting the truth or conceding it for personal comfort or gain.
A heretic is a man who sees with his own eyes. - Gotthold Ephraim Lessing (a known heretic)
